    By using proper design criteria for the concrete mix, we will likely have a concrete that is the best that nature and science has to offer. However, all concretes have inherent weaknesses that must be  overcome to maximize their performance. For example, it is a well known fact that concrete is strong in compression yet weak in flexure.


    Therefore it must be reinforces with steel to overcome this weakness. equally true, but less known, is that concrete is not uniformly hard. While this does not present a problem for structural concrete designed to carry a load, it does present a problem for concrete designed to resist  wear caused by the daily operations of a business.

Polished Concrete:
  • Must wait 28 days for concrete to cure before you can start grinding.
  • One can have full traffic on the floor immediately after polishing.
  • Lasts a lifetime.
  • Gives a perpetual shine and all qualities get better as time passes.
  • Implement a maintenance plan.
  • Will not peel or debond.
  • Odourless, non hazardous, no Solvents, no volatile compounds.
















Epoxy
  • Must wait 28 days for the concrete to cure before  you can apply the coating.
  • Must wait 7 days for the epoxy to cure before using the floor.
  • Another coating application is likely in 3-5 years.
  • Quality of the coating will only worsen as time passes.
  • Is a coating and can be scratched and removed.
  • 1 to10 year maximum.
  • Will wear, scratch and has the potential to debond and peel.
  • Often solvent borne with volatile compounds.
  • Often a two coat application.
